While We're On the Subject of Grammar...

...I got a kick out of this video. (And I promise to post an update on the kids soon - I know that's the only reason that you're even checking this blog.)

"Things we say wrong"?

If this guy is going to criticize society en masse for its grammar, shouldn't he at least give his segment a grammatically correct title? Perhaps this is a tongue-in-cheek attempt to be cute. I don't know. I just didn't care for the condescending tone, even if I did agree with his central point that good grammar is becoming a lost art; however, I disagree with him on the point that verbal laziness is something to eschew. Is society going to collapse because people say "l'il" instead of "little"? I digress.
In closing, I don't think I'd like this guy very much if I met him on the street.

OK, for serious anonymous??? Lighten up! It's just a joke. And Gary, that would be "two" :-)

Oh, I am dead "for serious". I do not mess around when it comes to my grammar, nor do I mess around when it comes to grammar nerds and snobs. I will literally go toe-to-toe with you on grammar.

Serious Anonymous Guy, are you my brother? I had to ask.

I'll never tell.

Also, yes. I figured the horrible misuse of the word "literally" would be a dead giveaway. Alas, I was right.

That is literally what gave you away. I literally thought that you would never have posted so early in the morning,so that literally threw me off, but then I literally thought that no one else would hit on my pet peeve of the misuse of the word literally. I mean, literally!
