This sweet girl turned 4 on January 3rd. We celebrated at the beach. We had actually been on the road for about 2 weeks before that visiting our Dyksterhouse family for Christmas. Poor Mary Laine got sick literally as we walked in the door to Jimmy and Kate's house (with 6 week old baby Nella) and stayed sick until the day after her birthday. She actually was feeling a little better on the actual birthday so we saw some smiles and even went out to eat.
We had the Sturdivant family over for a big breakfast to celebrate the birthday girl. She got some dress-up clothes from Mimi and Papa and she and Langdon had fun playing with those.
Unfortunately, most of the afternoon was spent at the doctor's office. I took her to buy a toy after that and she chose a Cinderella barbie.
After her nap, we watched Dumbo and then went to dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse (our family tradition). It was a fun time as always.
As we did last year, we asked her the "birthday questions". She definitely lost interest less than halfway through the list. Langdon got a Thomas the Tank Engine tent and that was the theme for many of her answers, as was her new Cinderella barbie.
