For Mary Laine's half-birthday, we had a little party. For those of us with teeth, there were 1/2 cupcakes with either an "M" or an "L" on them. The half-birthday girl got her first taste of solid foods. We gave her rice cereal and she is a big fan. Surprisingly, more of it ended up in her mouth than on her bib. She has now moved up to oatmeal, and we will be starting veggies next week. I have a feeling that she is going to love almost everything that I put in front of her. We found out at her 6-month checkup that she is in the 75% for weight (16.7 lbs), while only in the 25% for height (24 1/4"). You'd never know that she was so little when she was born!
She loves to play peek-a-boo and loves her Daddy. Tummy-time is becoming a thing of the past because I can't figure out how to keep her on her stomach without holding her down against her will. She rolls onto her back as soon as her stomach hits the floor. She isn't sitting unassisted yet. She can stay balanced for about 3 seconds and then she topples over. She is becoming very vocal, but whenever we try to get a video of her talking, she clams up and just stares at the camera.
At her birthday party, her daddy and granddad decided to teach Mary Laine how to play poker. We quickly found out that she's a natural:
Looking at her hand
Granddad only has a low pair
Mary Laine's hand is not too shabby
Read 'em and weep!
Happy Half-Birthday Sweet Girl! We Love You!!
