We arrived in Greenwood, MS on Friday, May 18th, and are officially living in small town USA. I started work today (Monday, May 21st), and Kathryn is busy trying to settle in our spacious one room apartment on Grand Blvd. For those of you who are not aware, we have officially moved in with the parents until our house sells in Atlanta. Thankfully, Kathryn's parents (Walker & Lanie) don't mind hosting us for a short while during this period of homelessness.
Speaking of our home in Atlanta: we have had solid but unspectacular interest from visitors to our home in the past several weeks. As the school year ends, we are hoping that the number of people interested will increase, and that God will provide a purchaser for our lovely home. We miss it already. We have already put a contract on a home in Greenwood, and fortunately we were able to work out a contingency that allows us to wait until our previous home sells, before having to purchase the new one. Regardless, we are looking forward to completing the move from Atlanta, and truly starting to make our home in Mississippi.
We were greeted with a significant surprise upon our arrival to our church home this past Sunday. At the end of our first church service as Mississippians, the pastor made the announcement that he would be resigning from his post as teaching elder of the congregation. Obviously we did not see this coming, and based on our experiences with him on the pulpit, we are sad to see him go. Despite this shock, we are very excited with the Grace based gospel that is preached both on the pulpit and in the relationships that we have already been able to form.
All in all it has been an eventful weekend, and we look forward to some normalcy in the coming weeks. Here is hoping that our house sells soon, and that within the next month or so we are able to finalize our move to the great state of Mississippi.
